The Sarwar-family owned Sarwar Jute Mills Limited, used to export raw jute and jute products since the early 60s. Around then, having over 500 employees and 400 staff, it was one of the very few factory plants owned by a Bengal family which spearheaded exporting raw jute and jute items in numerous European and Middle Eastern countries. This facility operated 24x7 till 2010 as the global demand for jute products dropped gradually.
